Cock just so you know.
Crosby is a great player, when he's playing lol.
I don't really like Crosby but you can't deny the mans skill.
I'm not sure is heavier hits and more padding are the reason for all these injuries.
Well speed is an obvious factor, but I think it comes down to people not realizing when to take a hit and when to give a hit.
80% of all these concussions come from when the puck handler turn his face to the boards and is about 2 feet from them.
That right there is a recipe for disaster.
I don't know if you've played hockey cock but the first thing they teach you about hitting is when your 2 feet from the boards with the puck. GET UP AGAINST THE BOARDS ASAP. Cause if someone were to hit you, you are in the worst possible position to get an injury.
I think the person hitting should also recognize the vulerable position that the puck handler is in and find someone of pinning that person up, rather than hit them from that danger zone.
This is where the problem lies is that, it is not the hitters responsibility to make sure the puck handler is in the right hitting area, the puck handler has to.
Also doesn't help that the equipment is solid plastic. You don't solid plastic if your going to fall on ice, the real reason for padding. Leather padding did it before and I'm sure it still can.
As for my stupidity, I just seperated the two for analysis purposes. I had also been drinking all night.
