New Casino in Toronto

If they do not want the casino, they are welcome to burn it down after it's built...right?

I doubt a Casino is going to like the idea of a "short term" contract. If the lease the property it's going to be for years.

How ever an arsonist could burn it down, but that doesn't really get rid of the Casino.

True, and true.

Are there any public proceeds to block the construction? *Other than the link posted previously, anything that's really on paper?*

It worked to get rid of the SWAT in Chicago...hundreds of times. Burn!
i can't imagine why anyone would want to burn down an establishment that provides subsidized liquor
Because they're stupid, retarded, mind-fucking people who don't need a casino. Spend the money, time, and permits on making something to be proud of the city, more homes, a mall, some statute to commemorate a guy who created the city.

Casinos...while good, aren't the best idea, in my opinion, given how the world's taking a piss.

See I've never lived by one, and never had the urge to go to one.

Don't know if it's good/bad or how it relates to the world taking a piss? I guess more beer = more pissing?
I don't get it.

We already have the highest concentration of abandoned condos in the OECD bloc, more than enough bigass malls that nobody should even need to go to Buffalo, and another statute for Rob Ford to use as a bib when he goes to Wild Wing ain't helpin no one. Whatever civic pride we had disappeared the moment the SkyDome was renamed the Rogers Centre and the outcry was swallowed by a fresh wave of immigration. Currency is the raison d'etre of this city, a gigantic theme park casino is just the feather that was missing from our cap.

Wow, see, that's where the attention should be focused instead of business to generate revenue. If you have failed businesses, then someone, hopefully, should be fired, and these empty buildings demoed, you don't need a $10 grand building sitting around wasting space and tax dollars.

Wonder what else is fucked up, up there in Toronto.

I've seen the city try to make money on this shit before (remember the 407 fiasco?). I wouldn't trust the city, and a casino will increase crime ten-fold. The people of Toronto can't handle a casino - Christ, look at all the shootings/stabbings just in the nightlife districts, nevermind a fucking casino. People here are not privy, not used to such a thing, it's gonna cause a lot of shit.

+1 cock, Niagara is one very fucked up place.

Plus, let's be real here - any money (really) seen by the government won't help shit. A bunch of politicians will make off with a lot of money, sure, but it won't help our budget one bit. In fact, it's probably going to just add to the budget, to fix all of the shit it's going to break/cause.

My hometown put in a casino 15 years ago or so. Given that city is 10 times smaller than Toronto, but crime did not increase. The casino brings in a ridiculous amount of money into the community. Not only just to the city, but to hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc. Casinos help everyone from the municipality down to the joe schmoe who works at a restaurant due to the extra people and money coming in. Our water front has been turned from a pile of rubble into a masterpiece. The roads are always in tip top shape, the landscaping around town is beautiful. Schools, churches, retirement homes, etc. have been given extra funding. Aslong as you keep it to one casino and not let the area around it turn into rub n' tugs, strip joints, TOO many night clubs, and other smaller casino's, it should be great for the city.

Our casino is an OLG casino and the town gets roughly 50% of the profits. Hopefully that's the idea of the Toronto casino.
