get a rebuilt one. I got one for 350 rebuilt and gave them my old one. but yea, you probably dont have a garage or "tools"

it certainly takes getting used to.
on a serious note.. buy a nissan motherfucker. something from early 90s. i have a civic right now and i had a nice long chat with some mechanics i trust with my own car about working on cars and they ALL own nissans and say that yeah it's really the easiest/best cars to work on.
if you're into the whole fuel economy/long lasting shit then buy a 90s civic with a D motor. if you want a cheap performance car get a nissan. if you want some new car to impress the bitches then you're just a putz wasting your fucking money. in which case, a mazda3 is the best car for you.
as for whoever was talking shit about the lada, i personally know someone who owned a lada and the vehicle serviced him for quite a while. it might have been a cheap piece of shit but he owns two houses now instead of just one. marinate on that for a minute

Civic. They're a little more money to buy (when compared to an equal car from another brand) and a little more on insurance - however, you will never have to fix fuck all on it.
Got my 2005, silver, 2-door, power-everything (no sunroof), 78,000Km, for about $10,000. I've spent ZERO on it other than oil changes, and adding audio/video and other little goodies to it (but that's my choice, right?)...
