Ok, so i have moved in to a new place and the iternet is getting setup today. I am jiving to play warz online w u fags again but i dont have a desk yet lol so i am gonna setup my desktop on the kitchen table i have. Problem is its gonna be a room away from the modem/router and im not gonna spend $20-50 on a length of internet wire to hardwire me in.

I have no experience with wireless network adapters/cards so i need some recommendations that arent too expensive but effective.

Is there a big difference between these USB wireless network adapters vs the network cards u install in a pci slot?

I don think i need an uber one since i will be at most 20 ft from the modem with only one wall in the way. I just want something stable while getting high xfer speeds from the wifi.

I will prob pick it up tonight if someone refers a decent one today

Thanks mates

Personally I just bought a little £10 USB thingy and it works fine.
I'd say it's stopped working 2 times out of a years use, and those were easily fixed by unplugging and re-plugging it in.

I don't think there's much difference between USB and PCI but I'm not a wireless expert.

Is usb vs pci any easier? I just want something that is plug n play without setup/networking hassles.

Afaik, usb and pci are roughly the same price but one u plug in the other u 'install'. I am more concerned about compatability issues where i get one or the other, go home install, and no workie

Easy as can be. If you're on Windows 7, you won't really need to install anything for the generic D-link/Linksys shit out there (they're all backed by Broadcom/Atheros chipsets anyway, which Windows 7 has covered. Plug and play, let Windows do the config (that's what I'm using as we speak, D-link. :) )

i used a dlink usb for a couple of years. other than wireless sucking dick compared to wired, it was alright.

PCIe all the way man....
No random usb sticks hanging out of your PC, no bumping into issues (which when happens in game piss me off).
You do it once and forget about it, but since it's on board you'll notice a huge power difference in terms of the signal you get compared to a little usb stick device.

Haha, It's not so bad. Of course I would never install a large amount of cat5e, but for a small patch job where your internet is never going to fully saturate it it's fine.
Not worth the 50% increase in cost for cat6 for a computer only handling internet bandwidth.
Mmm, that's a good point.. I can agree to that :D
