My samsung has logmein rescue so i know its not just HTC
LogMeIn has nothing to do with the 'key-stroke' issue.

The key-stroke issue was specific to HTC phones. The potentially malicious coding was in HTC's overlay, which sits on top of the base Android platform. This is what gives phones their identity - Samsung has the Kies overlay, HTC has Sense etc. etc. My point - it wasn't Android, it was HTC. And it's never been proven. It's only been highlighted that some of the code contained in the Sense overlay had the potential organization and method to facilitate the function of key-stroke recording. I remember there being a you-tube video demonstrating this ability.

I'll bet you a dollar that Windows will recreate the driver on next boot if you delete it. Or Windows will just cease to function.

This was HTC, not all Android phones. Also, it was never proven that it was recording anything, rather that it contained the possibility of doing so.

You're paranoid, man.
I'm not making this stuff up, these are all things I read in multiple news articles. It's actually sad that so many people are misinformed and don't want to believe the abuses that are going on out there. http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/carrier-iq-what-it-is-what-it-isnt-and-what-you-need-to/

"Carrier IQ claims its software is installed on over 140 million devices with partners including Sprint, HTC and allegedly, Apple and Samsung. Nokia, RIM and Verizon Wireless have been alleged as partners, too, although each company denies such claims." So more than just HTC...

"From a permissions standpoint -- with respect to Android -- the software is capable of logging user keystrokes, recording telephone calls, storing text messages, tracking location and more. It is often difficult or impossible to disable."

"In the following video, Trevor presents much of his findings, which seemingly demonstrate Carrier IQ's keystroke logging, location tracking and ability to intercept text messages. Even information that should be transferred only within encrypted sessions is captured in plain text by Carrier IQ. During the entire demonstration, Trevor's phone was in airplane mode, operating only over WiFi. Although his actions were outside the scope of his wireless carrier (Sprint), the software continued to monitor his every key press. On his Android device, it's evident that Carrier IQ is running, even though it does not appear in the list of active processes. Further, the application doesn't respond to "Force Quit" commands, and it's set to startup when Android launches."

"The software has the ability to record nearly every action you perform with your phone. The actual data logged, however, isn't determined by Carrier IQ, but rather its clients."

http://www.extremetech.com/mobile/1...q-but-big-brother-scare-tactics-are-overblown

"In the wake of the Carrier IQ blowup of the last few weeks, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was filed asking for “manuals, documents or other written guidance used to access or analyze data gathered by programs developed or deployed by Carrier IQ.”
The FBI has since responded to Muckrock’s missive stating that such records existed but they were not currently available because their release could affect ongoing investigations."

"This is being read in many circles as tacit confirmation that the FBI indeed uses Carrier IQ. As far as whether or not the FBI has used the software, it almost certainly has."

Hmm, so all my suspicions are confirmed. But here I am being called the conspiracy theorist. I think the inherent problem is, a good portion of you don't live in the United States, so you don't care if our FBI has access to your information, it's not like they're going to come to Canada to come get you for downloading movies illegally or whatever. But right now, here in the United States, people are being jailed and discriminated against for their beliefs...in our Constitution. Which to many of us, is a very scary thing, which to many of us, means we are turning the very foundation our country was founded on, upside down, and possible on the way to tyranny.

May I also mention the FBI plans to assassinate Occupy movement leaders? The IRS targeting Tea Party members or the fact the President just publicly stated that Tea Party members are domestic terrorists? I mean the list goes on and on. I was at the Tunnel to Towers run in NYC in 2005 with the Marine Corps, and we had all different important figures speak before we ran. There were thousands of people there to run or watch us run. One of the last to speak was the creator of the Guardian Angels, a tough neighborhood watch set up in the 60's or 70's I believe, to combat crime. When he got up there, he said some of the most racist things I've ever heard, about how we need to kill Muslims wherever they are, women and children, and the audience applauded him at the end. There were Senators there, both state and federal, important figures all over, and they all clapped. I was one of the only ones, I looked around, I turned to my buddy and said, this is fucked up, this is wrong, but everyone goes along with the crowd. This is the sorry state our nation is in, others are in bad places themselves with revolutions all over, but we have this hidden racism and hatred that is all over that no one wants to admit. Everyone is targeting everyone who doesn't agree with them. It is seriously scary, because I recognized the change and how society is so much different now than it was 10, 20 years ago. But 9/11 really changed things, for the worst.

Revealed how Microsoft handed the NSA access to encrypted messages

• Secret files show scale of Silicon Valley co-operation on Prism
• Outlook.com encryption unlocked even before official launch
• Skype worked to enable Prism collection of video calls
• Company says it is legally compelled to comply

"....But internal NSA newsletters, marked top secret, suggest the co-operation between the intelligence community and the companies is deep and ongoing."
"....The document describes how this access "means that analysts will no longer have to make a special request to SSO for this – a process step that many analysts may not have known about"."
"The document continues: "The FBI and CIA then can request a copy of Prism collection of any selector…" As a result, the author notes: "these two activities underscore the point that Prism is a team sport!"
