obama layed out his new nasa buget today. it still needs to go throu congress but if it dose im exited. 6billion over the next 5 years more than its current buget. and canseling the areas and constilation programs (some bullshit publisity stunt by the bush administration to put man on the moon again). he did this inorder to develop ways to make getting people into space cheaper and easyer, as well as further robotic exploration of the solar system. may also lead to extending the ISS into 2020. his plan also outlines the possibility of privatizing space so cooperations like spaceX can actuly put people into space rather than just simulations.

if this gose throu nasa plans to

$7.8 billion over five years into in orbit refuling stations for extended missions and closed-loop life support systems.

and another
$3 billion over five years for robotic exploration precursor missions that will pave the way for later human exploration

very exited about this i really hope it passes through congress.

Glad to hear! It's about time more money got put into it. I went to see a guest lecture a few weeks ago that was an astronaut/computer scientist who was helping develop robotics for space exploration and had been on a few trips himself. This guy was crazy with all the degrees he had! Plus he was into biomedical tech too so that just makes him even more awesome :)

as the days go by I am becoming more and more interested in space, i always have, but my roomate started playing mass effect2, and I keep thinking about all the ways first contact would change our world.

I applaud Obama for approving this/ planning this, it sounds like a really good use of funds insted of putting a man on the moon. armstrong was the only one to call firsties on the moon, now the novelty is gone. The next big step for humanity is long distance communication.

If I were president I would put a shit load of money into quantum physics so one day EVE online will be a reality =p
