My dogs got skunked about an hour ago and we just finished bathing them. This is why everyone hates me right now: Apparently the whole house smells but I can't smell so it doesn't bother me. While everyone else is febreezing everything and stuffing thingss up their nose I'm having a good laugh. The only downside is I more than likely stink but don't know it.

lol I've been in that position, probably like 10 times. Its fucking horrible.... The trick is to not let the dog go running into your house afterwards and stinking up everywhere.... wash that bugger outside, then let him in, it will still smell, but not nearly as bad....

Skunks don't actually smell by themselves. Its a triggered self-defense mechanism. They have glands that produce the smell when they're scared. The one's on the side of the road usually smell because those glands relax upon death.
