This guy is a fucking psycho. They should just chain this fucker to a wall and let anyone do anything they want.

As for the gun possession issue, gun laws are strict enough as it is. I wouldn't want to live in a country where only the government and police were allowed to carry weapons. I'm all for peaceful protests when possible, but in countries like Egypt and Syria, violence is a necessary (albeit unfortunate) requirement. Without our right to defend ourselves and our ideas, who will keep the government accountable? What would prevent another Tiananmen Square massacre? The government rolled in tanks against students armed with rocks and molotov cocktails.

SJ is my hero, Preplexed caused that shitstorm with me awhile ago which took a serious topic into the sewer, so i feel some justice here.

The fact he was getting his PHd means he had those two other degrees beforehand to be able to qualify to enroll.. how does a smart person like that turn so fucking nuts.. its disturbing to see reports he was dressed like the joker as well.. those poor kids can never watch batman again the same way.

fucked up fate about the girl who escaped toronto yonge street shooting only to get killed there by another lunatic..

I feel our government is well developed beyond that happening, we have way more social push and captialism versus countries in asia etc when that horrific event happened. All i know is as long as guns can be purchased like groceries, you dont have to take a mental test to get one, you only need to fill out the paper work and sign something. maybe put in some level of testing for gun licensing, not the same as police, but at least they are tested for psychological tendencies.

Been talking to a friend about this recently.

the booby traps found in his apartment are the official police statement 'like nothing we've seen before.'
he's got enough explosives in there to blow up the entire building and the one across the street
so no one's been able to get in, not bomb squad, ATF no one
seriously fucked up traps too
like, jars of bullets, rigged to spray the entire apartment when triggered
they saw them with a camera on a really long stick

he hasn't said anything other than he was the joker and he had explosives in his apartment

That's just messed up.

So the president is on his way to Colorado , I wonder if any one else had the thought that maybe all of this was a ploy to get the president to Colorado , so that something greater could be done .
I only say that because our suspect is extremely methodical and it would be foolish to put it past him . (who's to say there is not a partner waiting for the president to show up you know?)

Has anyone heard about Christian Bale dressing up as Batman and visiting the victims?
I saw there was a facebook petition going around for it to happen.
Didn't know whether he would do it or not.

It would be a pleasant surprise for the families who got caught up in all of it.

I haven't really heard anyone talk about it (in here, I just read the whole thread so I'm up to speed) either here and at home/out and about amongst friends and family - everyone's asking, "How could this happen? He was so smart?"... well, what if he was just psychotic? Psychotic people do not have consciences like us; they feel no empathy, sympathy - there is a blur between right and wrong. Typically, don't people like this grow up to be some sort of specialist (i.e. guy that crafts mini doll houses, with exquisite detail), or really academically gifted etc.? To me, it makes sense... However, that could just be the excuse he's looking for (or at least his lawyer)...

in the year 2000 USA homicide rate is 4.55 per 100,000 that's 0.00455%
according to this dude Norway should be someone in the ballpark of 0.20 per 100,000

previously I started writing something I just derped on about population difference but its wrong. anyway didn't bother deleting it put in a spoiler tag.
those stats didn't take into account the population difference between usa and norway.

Population
Norway 5 mil - USA 314 mil. = USA 62x population of Norway

so a country with 62 times the population of Norway has 23 times the murder rate or Norway. Assuming the rate being measured as firearm deaths per unit of time.

those numbers actually make USA sound safer than Norway. which makes no sense.

But then again there were not units stated or census cited in the "study" IMO these stats are just baloney

I dont give a fuck about American politics, but I sure as shit can't wait till we scrap the long-gun registry here in Canada. Right now the bill is at the last stage of becoming an Act of Parliament :)

Edit. you wanna see some real shit? just look at page 3 of this for Canada

well , I guess you were not aware that it had already happened .

On April 5, 2012, Bill C-19, Ending the Long-Gun Registry Act, came into effect. The key changes are as follows:

Removal of the requirement to register non-restricted firearms
Destruction of the existing non-restricted firearms registration records
Allowing the transferor of a non-restricted firearm to obtain confirmation of a transferee’s firearms acquisition licence prior to the transfer being finalized
Until further notice, due to a Court Order issued by the Quebec Superior Court, residents of Quebec are still required to register non-restricted firearms with the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program.

It is important to note that the new law does not change the requirement for all individuals to hold a licence in order to possess a firearm. The licensing, safety training and safe storage requirements for anyone who uses or owns a firearm continue to be in force.

The legislation also does not impact registration requirements for restricted or prohibited firearms.
