Guns are banned from all theaters - that doesn't do anything except stop lawful gun owners from using their conceal and carries. a dipshit like this guy isn't going to give a fuck about a law like this.

Violence can't stop tyranny, only enforce it. Personally, I blame all this kind of shit on individualism. Western society has forever been so fucking obsessed with preserving everyone's individualism that nobody thinks about society and how much better we'd be individually if we all focused on helping each other instead of just "doing our own thing" which is exactly how people get marginalized and "slip through the cracks" and become lunatic killers just to wind up on the news.

My dad took part in a violent revolution against Soviet tyranny and lived to tell me there ain't no justice in violence. I've known plenty of criminal types and have come to the same conclusion first hand. Violent events occur when public frustration grows to a point where people can't even breathe without being detained. You are interpreting these events as the change, but they are only the catalysts for change. Once the dust settles and the destruction stops, people realize the pain they've wrought and the actual change takes place when they put the effort in to create reforms so that future generations can hopefully live better lives.
There is a reason the period after the American civil war was called the Reconstruction Era. That's when all the great reforms took place, not while people were killing each other. What impresses me is that we (humanity, I mean) have already begun exploring ways to bring about reform without violence. Just look at how far France has gotten. France used to be the epicentre of social upheaval and associated violence but it's still modernizing without people being killed. In other Western countries the influence of Anonymous and Wikileaks has caused people at the highest levels of government to raise questions and demand answers from other politicians. The government is composed of ordinary people just like us, why would we fight them if we can instead get them on our side and harness their political clout to drive real change without the need for the violence and suffering?
