Friend of mine got his M last summer. You enroll in a driver's ed class where they let you practice on a 125 cc and go around a track. At least thats what they do in ottawa. They basically evaluate you during this class and give you hands on learning with an instructor and teach you the basics. I think theres a in-class section and a practical section to the course. This course is quicker to do but I think it costs more.

i just got mine 2 weeks ago, same here in winnipeg. knowledge test pass = ability to take "safety course" like 44 explained. then once you pass that its your learners.

This day in age id be tripped out driving a motorcycle on these north American roads..people here are so clueless as to what goes on around them and a couple friends of mine have died due to the noobness and inexperience of car drivers on the road they drive here like zombies never check their blind spots and that's the worst case for a biker...just my 2 cents....
