Got tired of people asking me to start up the DARKLY MC server, so I might as well do it seeing as I have a couple hours of free time. Suggest plugins/features below and I will add them if I can. A build team that I am a part of will be making the server lobby :). All TD admins will get admin on the server; please PM me with your IGN and if you are interested. All TD members will be given a special rank as well, and the rank of moderator. Finally, all donors from the previous server will receive their donor ranks upon request.

Cheers!

In a perfect world, it would be awesome to have the spawn world, one factions world, one creative world and one regular world with the grief protection plugin.
All obviously separate from the other so no one can spawn in stacks of Diamond blocks in the creative world to bring into the survival/factions worlds.

But, for now just start with something basic.
Spawn world and another world with either factions or survival.

I think shops would be good to have again, but no job plugin.
Make it similar to prison servers in that they can get stacks of wood and sell them at the store to build up cash.
Make money more valuable than it was in the old server. Was so easy to make money on the old one there was actually no point to it.

I'll think of some more stuff tomorrow.

Will be making a purely-factions world for now, with a spawn that leads to WarZone, to wilderness. Afterwards, if that is successful, I will expand out to include more donor perks like Creative and such.
"One regular world with grief protection plugin"
May not add that at all because you can just do that in single player o_o, but if you have a strong objection I can do that easily.
Shops, yes, but the prices will be an issue. I'm working with another community to get their price list so buckshot and I can modify it to our needs; you can join if you want zacky.
I don't want ot make it too valuable though, or it'll lead to ragequits and an insane amount of black markets :P

My next main suggestion is Warp Signs.
No /warp command, just signs. Means we could have a spawn building on the Factions world with signs that can warp you to the Market, even install a premium market with higher selling prices.
Also makes it easier to control who can go to what /warps in a way, but then again with factions there is the teleport command so things like that would be hard to control, people could easily teleport other players into premium zones so... :/

The pricing I had thought of: Regular Markets would be something like $32 to sell regular stacks, like wood, cobble etc.
Then to buy those regular stacks, you would pay either $96 or $128. Then make all the other items scale in line with that or something.
Just an idea, that way it wouldn't be massively easy to make money, and it gives you something to work towards.
Then in premium markets, sell price could be $64 and buy price could be either the same or slightly lower, but not massively lower.

As for the regular world, yeah, the idea would be to make it like SSP but on a Multiplayer world, so it has the added challenge of other players.
Then you have the option of trusting certain players to be able to come into your house with that plugin, or just play alone and avoid contact.
I think there are ways to disable plugins on certain worlds, so only have the grief protection plugin on that world. (The one where you need a gold shovel and gold blocks to protect your house)

It could almost be like the spawn world would be a hub, and then you can teleport to different "severs" that all act different and are all separate from each other (money/items don't cross over etc.) but as I said before this kind of stuff should be for further down the road, not initial set up.
Just a factions world and a hub world sounds good to me right now.

Anyway, all of what I'm saying is just ideas, you can mould them into whatever you want.

As a side note, as I have always said:
If you guys are building, message me on Steam.

Well, first, you would probably need Bukkit Essentials, as it is very important to a server (unless you already have it). Try adding a cops 'n' robbers world for people to play that minigame, and if you can, try putting a Hypixel adventure map. Those are REALLY fun, especially with random people. Also, I would love to see the tf2 plugin in there.

I have run a server before and made my own plugins... I know that ;P.

No to the cops n' robbers (at least for now)
No adventure maps
TF2? not yet.

If you need anyone to develop plugins, ones other than your standard plugins, send me a message. I'm getting my certification in Java in a few months as well as some other programming languages.

Almost every server uses Essentials.

Because it's.... ESSENTIAL

Someone should make an official Darkly Hexxit server. Or Tekkit, Tekkit Classic, Voltz, etc.
I'm a boss at Tekkit classic. I get the EU gen up in a few days and then start making blaze rods, which I turn into Aeternalis fuel, which gets turned into Red Mater, then turned into Dark Matter.

Apart from what S2M posted above, EE2, the mod that does all that Aeternalis and Matter shit, has been/is in the process of being updated to an almost completely new mod. The condenser farms were really too easy to get for as powerful as they were and once you got a good one going, it just got boring.

The MC server I used to go on ran Tekkit and it was great at first, but the condenser farms were obtained too quickly and then they started to lag out the server. Not sure if it was EE2, but one of the mods started resetting chunks without warning. In the end, we had to take it down because there wasn't enough traffic to make the problems worth it.

TL;DR: Tekkit is fun for two weeks. Then it's ded.

the problem with MC is that all the bigger networks like MCSG, Hive, Mineplex, are taking all the traffic away. no point in starting up a small server anymore... not enough $$ to keep it up.

I never really thought of it that way. I mean, when I play Tekkit I don't solely work with EE2 I work with BuildCraft, ComputerCraft, IC2, MFFS, RedPower, and Railcraft. The way I see it is that people think that Tekkit only encompasses EE2, BuildCraft, and IC2 and completely forget about the other mods that are installed. In my opinion, I think ComputerCraft is harder to learn than all three of the major mods in Tekkit combined.

You should check this Technic mod out http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/official-crafting-dead-mod.41792

I haven't installed it yet (and I must admit that I haven't even launched my Technic launcher in about a month) but I most likely will try it out.

Oh! Also, I have a spare pc in my room that has been collecting dust for about 3 months now. My friend gave it to me for helping him move to Virginia. It has decent specs on it so I can probably set it up as a host and install a web panel for you to access...making it a free host!
