Okay I just got rid of mine.
1. First turn off your computer, remove your HDD (SSD if you have one)
2. Go find the strongest magnet you have, make sure it is wide enough to cover the width of the drive
3. Run it over the HDD about 6 - 10 times, Make sure you keep pressed against it so you don't ruin it.
4. Install it again, it should run normally
SDD steps
1. Put in dishwasher, top rack
2. Do a first wash with 1 cup (250ml) of cascade (Green bottle)
3. Do 2 more runs to rinse off the soap
4. Let air dry 24 hours and reinstall.
