TD Admin
This has been really bothering me for the past few days and I just need to post it on here so that maybe the people who feel that racism is OK get a reality check.
Racism is everywhere, no doubt, and is much more prevalent online where people can hide behind their screens and say whatever they want without having to face someone. I've been seeing it on the Toronto CS:GO server and it really makes me shake my head.
A few days ago I'm playing as I do every night and notice there are some TD members on as well. They start talking about things like "I really had to take a sh*t and walk into the bathroom and all the stalls were taken, and then one stall opens and a turban comes out, then the next one opens and another turban comes out and then I say f*ck that I'm not going in there", followed by other comments like "ahh yes Canada, home of the asians and browns". It's sad that these are clan members encouraging each other by laughing at the remarks, adding to them, not thinking twice. News flash, half the people on the server at that time were either asian, brown or black. One person chirped in and said 'Well that's only slightly racist..." I'm not going to name names and single anyone out, that's not what this is about, so don't bother asking. You know who you are.
That's not the first time I've heard that from people on our server, TD members and non TD members. It really makes me question why I put in my application and makes me consider withdrawing it. I keep being told how TD is this big family and all, and to socialize and mingle. Well, to be honest, people like that are not people I wish to associate myself with.
I ask that the admins step it up and really pay attention to this kind of behaviour, and don't encourage it by laughing or adding to it. I'm white, catholic, and I married a muslim girl who was born and raised in Canada to parents from Africa with Indian heritage. My daughter is a mix of cultures and we decided to raise her Muslim as I'm not very active in my religion. Are you haters going to judge my 2 year old? Are you going to call her names?
It's 2014, racism is not OK anymore, and we can all help by stepping up and not accepting it on our server. I spend every night on the Toronto Darkly server, I look forward to coming home from work, and when all of life's chores are done going to my PC and playing my favourite game with some really awesome people. It really ruins it when stuff like this happens.
Now I said I wouldn't single anyone out, but I lied, I do need to single someone out: td|35mm (mikaHacky). I am very proud to say that this guy does not accept racism and is an advocate about what I'm talking about. I have personally been online over a dozen times when he has warned, kicked or banned racist players and has a zero tolerance policy, never laughing, encouraging or promoting any sort of behaviour. My hat goes off to you 35, we need more people like you in the world.
That's my rant, I really don't want to start any crap but it needed to be said. Now off to the server for some frags...
