I was talking to Goldfinger on the CS:GO server and thought I should post this: Quantum Computing

We were going on and on about all different subjects, but this is something I think is more important, or will have the most impact on all our futures. The development of Quantum Computing.

Lecture on Quantum Computing

http://lanq.sourceforge.net/ LanQ is a research project in the field of quantum computer science - a quantum programming language designed to support execution of multiple processes in parallel.
Its syntax is similar to the C language.

I myself have little experience in programming, but plan to start learning on my own part time and I hope to get into all this. The demand for Quantum Computers as they become more widespread will be unreal, if they do become widespread, and I hope some of you are interested and find this helpful :D I really think that this is the future

the way i understand quantum computing is it's all black box shit. input -> ??? -> PROFIT -> output
Quantum computing is different in the way that regular computers can have a 1 or a 0, Quantum Computers can have a 1, a 0, or a 1 and a 0 simultaneously. It makes it significantly, exponentially more powerful than a regular computer, and that power increases exponentially.

Unfortunately it is going to take long time till we can use it, but the perspectives of having it are enormous. Just an example can be particle-by-particle teleportation. It is possible to teleport particles, but it is impossible now to teleport ping-pong ball cause we need to much computational powers to reconstruct it. Quantum computers could help ) I am using 14400 core cluster during my work and last computation job lasted half year in summary for my project. It could be seconds on quantum computer..

P.S. Smurf can you please avoid discussing, even such an interesting topics, during play. You can do it while you died, but not during play. It is very distracting.. Personal blocking communication seems to not working properly. I blocked you 5 times, but you comes back every next round )

Quantum anything is the future. Between Quantum and Nanotechnology and getting rid of the rest of the useless human race, the future is paved. Stop complaining when there's less and less jobs :/ lol

The people doing the teleportation claimed within 15 years, and this was about 2 or 3 years ago, they believe they'll be able to teleport a whole orange. Currently DWave has sold their "Quantum" computers to a bunch of different government agencies including the CIA, other corporations and other governments around the world. I really don't think it is going to take too long for quantum computers to become common, as they use the quantum computers they come out with to figure out how to make more efficient and powerful quantum computers, we'll advance exponentially in that direction. It is believed that when we have one 250 qubit quantum computer up and running, that it will be able to solve problems in little time that would take us tens if not hundreds of years without them. I really think you're going to see very soon, a huge jump in technology, as we are already making leaps and bounds technologically without quantum computers.

Well as long as they share. I think they have a responsibility to give back, because everyone's job, whether you're a custodian at some high school or a heart surgeon, we all contributed to the circumstances that lead to these advances, and it's just too much power, or will be, for a few people to have. I'm not big on Socialism, but they have a responsibility to share the benefits these computers will have on science and technology with the world, because without the rest of us it never would have came to be.

Also those developing teleportation, basically stated that what the teleporter does, is it breaks down the object on the atomic or molecular level? Removing the original piece by piece, recording that information, but destroying the original, and sending that information to the other end to rebuild the object piece by piece. So I wouldn't use a teleporter because you're basically killing yourself and building an exact copy at the other end. But, if we make major developments in energy, we can basically have replicators from Star Trek the Next Generation. All you have to do is keep that copy of the blueprint of an orange, and send it to multiple teleporters or replicators, and everyone has an orange. If Quantum Computing leads to breakthroughs in nearly limitless energy, everyone could have a replicator, and the world would be a much different place. It is amazing what we may see in our lifetimes, especially with the top Google engineers who just announced a few days ago (which has also been announced by scientists and engineers the past few years) that immortality should be within our grasps in about 32 years.

I'm sorry about talking about all that stuff during gameplay, but Goldfinger challenged me and once I get going...I can talk about science, technology, and futurology all day long.

HAHA, Check this commie out. Like the cure for cancer; either you profit, or you lose, my friend. Any other perspective is rather foolish and futile.
They're profiting on the product of all our combined works. I am against Socialism, because I think it is something that will naturally come to be, it is the future and doesn't need to be forced. I believe breakthroughs in the ability to produce large amounts, if not unlimited amounts of energy are right around the corner. I also believe advances like I've noted above are as well. With the combination of technology and energy breakthroughs, there will be more than enough for us all to live like kings. We can create a Star Trek like society, we just have to desire it as a whole.

And I believe there will one Jewish-ass EA company to charge you a fuckload for such technology. Nothing is free, and the stuff that is (DCA for cancer, for example) will get no attention or money for development.

I agree with your noble idea, but it's not the way the world works. Call me a cynic.

this reminds me of the plot to Jormungand. Whomever has a quantum computer... it will get out into the mainstream sooner or later by open source or industrial espionage. I really hope it is coming within the next decade, we've only got 15 more years before Ghost In The Shell is supposed to be reality

Also when I talk about sharing their advances, I don't mean that they should be required to just give out handouts, but the knowledge should be available for us all, they way it was always meant to be. People don't realize that our copyright system is broken. Companies like Disney lobbied to have laws changed so they could have a strangle hold on the ideas they created for 70 something years. Originally patents only lasted around 3 to 4 years, and were only meant to, that way if someone else was more intuitive in marketing your idea, it would help spur the economy and reward innovation and advancement. This would make things more competitive but would highly reward people that could find the most efficient and beneficial ways to market something. When these laws were changed, they seriously set back our country, if not the world technologically for generations. The place that has some of the least amount of copyright laws, whose government is very much based on what our government was, and leads the world in innovation and advancement is both Norway and Sweden. So the ideas our forefathers had, speak for themselves, unfortunately we have perverted much of what they created today for special interests.

I understand what you're saying. I understood it with the first wall of text you wrote.
All I'm saying is: the world is not like that. Too bad. lol

Norway and Sweden are like that, which is why the U.S. Government and our entertainment industry are leaning on them and their government officials as much as possible.

To put things in perspective, I believe google just announced they have the first official quantum computer which is 1 qubit. A 250 qubit quantum computer will have more information in its processor than there are atoms in the entire universe.

http://www.futurity.org/science-technology/tests-confirm-quantum-effects-in-processor/ "The team demonstrated that the D-Wave processor housed at the USC-Lockheed Martin Quantum Computing Center behaves in a manner that indicates that quantum mechanics plays a functional role in the way it works. The demonstration involved a small subset of the chip’s 128 qubits." To give you an idea of the capabilities, about 3 years ago, when DWave made their first unofficial quantum computer, Lockheed Martin approached them with a problem involving airflow on an experimental aircraft they were producing. They already new the answer, but they wanted to test the capabilities of DWave's powerful computing. They gave them a problem that took 12 of the best engineers and scientists in the country about 6 months to figure out with the best computing power around at the time. DWave's computer solved the problem in a few hours. And that itself was a few years ago. I was reading that with the advent of quantum computing, the advancement of quantum computing itself will increase exponentially. So literally right around the corner, we may be a super computing processing. These computers can break all encryption known to man, exactly like the movie "Sneakers" with Robert Redford, with ease.

I can already smell the catch-22 of needing a quantum processor just to debug code for a quantum processor
