I've been hearing that cd's are dead for 15 years now.

Now, there's a good argument for on-demand production for small releases, but the claim that everything is digital only is just foolish.

Eh, I wouldn't say 15 years but yes, it's been a while since they've been popular. Majority of music stores and labels are struggling to keep them going. It's sad, but nothing can be done. iTunes and Napster ruined that.
I look back to the days when you'd spend hours in a record shop going through bins and bins of records and taking the time to listen to them in the store.
Sigh.

I more consider it: I can get the same cd's online for the same price or cheaper, with free shipping, often with no sales tax, and I can search a lot more detailed, see reviews, listen to samples of every track, etc etc.

CD-shopping IS gay, unless you already know you're committed to buying that album. I have very few artists that I can say I have walked right in and bought it. With today's garbage being pumped out, I'm not surprised 99% of the industry is dead, as it should be, leaving only ed sheeran, adele, and a handful of talented musicians etc. Fuck all that American shiny bullshit.

But I HATE buying digitally, it's such crap quality. CD quality is pretty damned good, next to vinyl.

There's still a number of bands that I'd buy new unseen. There's a good number that I'll at least add to my "research it at minimum and buy used eventually." I listen to everything from John Lee Hooker to Blue Öyster Cult to Split Enz to Lucana Coil to Dropkick Murphys to etc etc. When so many of my favorite bands were from 10-60 years ago, I have no problem with waiting a bit for something to come out and/or have sample tracks of it put up on Amazon or Youtube to check out, plus look at reviews.
