New people are buying and getting into CS more and more and finding that its not as Easy as CoD to pick up and rape people left and right.
Take your Time, pick a partner and run around with him. its not hard to pick up how to play smart. learning the maps inside out is the hardest part but all it takes is time.

That is pretty much all i do....
Went 29 and 9 just now on lost temple using only P90, rushing, every round...

Master the art of straffing (obviously that means moving left to right) and then finally straffing and shooting . the objective of this is , while moving left to right is that the moment you start to go either left or right while you are in the very middle of the straff your bullet is about 100% accurate so if you can learn to shoot while you straff you will be one step ahead in terms of shooting / aiming .
also I suggest binding jump to your mouse wheel down and learning to straf and jump other wise known as bunnyhopping.
Use your radar it will tell you more then your team mates are going to tell you , most of the time .
a good set of headphones can save your life that being said .(Walking will save your life , where running will more likely get you found and killed)
google css bind if you have a mouse with buttons on the side I have found it very uselful to have my HE and Flash grenades bound to my mouse then once you have your prim wep out all u ahve to do is scoll up to get your smoke out .
Don't give up this game has a certain way with people and making you rage .
I suggest the helmet I have heard many a "DING" and knew that helmet saved me :P

P90 is like digital cocaine. at first it's like WTF then after a few rounds it's like WHEEEE I'M SO AWESOME and then you wake up weeks later crumpled with a bleeding anus in the toilet stall of a brothel in chinatown wondering how you sunk so low.
ultimately the best way to win is to avoid being shot at. two ways to accomplish that is by never walking into a room or hallway you can't back right out of (that means avoiding teammates who can and will fucking block you if they're anywhere near you) and by loading up on HE nades and flashes to give you leverage when you're pinned down. learn how to avoid getting shot well enough and the kills will just naturally follow.

buy 2 flashbangs and double tap that shit. also, smoke grenade areas to sneaky defuse/plant (that gets you knifed sometimes but is generally effective).
and if you want to save your soul, never buy a P90. the only time it is acceptable is when going for an achievement.

Spraying is not recommended with most weapons as recoil is a bitch. try to find a weapon you are comfortable with(P90 is a good one for starting) and just learn the maps.
Try not to get frustrated...like you said, a lot of us have been playing CS forever...just keep at it and have fun. Ask for tips when in game, people are generally helpful around these parts.

-avoid using nades, i rape many ppl with nade in hand, or as i call it "with pants down"
-only 3 guns exist in a whore's world: p90, ak, m4
-lower mouse sensitivity for those precision long shots
-do not engage a target that's aiming at you, walk away, dont be greedy.
-aim, aim, aim. css is all about killing ppl before they kill u. practice shooting at two small objects, back and forth. thatll help u get those snappy headshots.
