Hey so I need some help...

I'm doing some research for a friend

He works in alberta on the riggs.. He needs a laptop...mostly for keeping in touch...wants to spend around the 700 mark...

Any ideas in brands or sizes or what lol?!? help!

I bought it in the summer when I was travelling for work... but now that I am not travelling, I barely use it... spent $1100 after tax on it.... i7 920, radeon 330M gpu, 1 TB, 18 inch screen, 4 gig ddr3 i think... good for some things and good to have i guess but don't use it enough...

I should sell it to him :P .... but I think I wanna keep it anyways ha

Haze: 700 dollars should be more than enough for a computer to just keep in touch and browse the net - I'd suggest maybe even looking into getting something like a netbook for cheap.

shrug. Ive used a lot of netbooks recently and they've run fairly well - Hailey said all the guy wanted to do was stay in touch, though i Assume they'd want to be able to browse the web etc. etc. as well, which N books can accomplish.

That being said, since the persons budget is 700 bucks, they probably don't mind shelling out the cash for a proper laptop :)

NOTEBOOKS ARE GARBAGE. For the same price or just a lil more you can find a decent laptop if your just gonna be surfing the net and what not. Why pay 350 to 500 for any notebook when you can pay 500-600 and get a laptop that's pretty sick, minus the vid card. not like your gonna be playing games.

Haze, any of Hinouchi's links are certified by me. Asus = rock solid, and price/speed is great. He does NOT want a netbook, Christ with those things... better off browsing on a cell phone (ACTUALLY faster, no joke)...

Stick with Hinouchi's links in my opinion.

Word. I only suggested it because Hailey said he really just wanted it for keeping in touch with people - I mean, if someones honestly going to just be browsing a web page every now and then and sending e-mail, 300 bucks isn't a bad deal. My friend has one for this purpose, runs Unbuntu on it, I never had any complaints using it to do basic stuff - but i mean, yeah, even the cheapest laptop will blow that shit out of the water.

Nettbook = $300 for $350-$400 i'd rather get a basic single core intel laptop anyday. Netbook's just too small, too "lite" on features n speed, and just way too slow once you pack a few small programs, data on it.. i wouldn't hate if i didn't witness so much nonsense those things have caused in the market..
