So My E:/ drive which has steam and all games randomly disappears for no reason sometimes. Its a 250 gb Western Digital so its nothing special but Have no need to upgrade due to expensive ssds of same value. Any ideas?

Like ex: today i was booting up css and everything stopped responding (before got into game) ctrl+alt+del and then ended the process cause it was froze. Then E drive icon no longer goes to hdd and is gone. I use Win 7 64bit (pirated) and was wondering if anyone ever this prob? Its not serious cause I just reboot comp and then its back again but it still bugs me.

If it gets worse then I will prob just fork out cash for a new one but i would rather not. Plus headache of transferring data uggh.

i have had that problem with an old 160gb western digital, reboots fixed for me too...

try making sure the connections are tight, as well try a different sata port on your motherboard.

Beside what DM said,
Go to their website and download the diagnostics software.
You should be able to run a SMART test on it and see if the HDD is having any issues.
I suggest running a Full Scan on it. I know full scans are fucking time consuming but it will tell you if the HD is toast or not.

Regardless, back up your important shit right away (not steam games, but pics/porn/videos/shows/movies etc). I see this a lot at my work (IT for FutureShop) and it's usually the first sign the drive's on it's way out.

44 .... try this and permanently assign the drive. I have had drive designations change and did this and all is well now.

Open Computer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Computer.

You can change, add, or remove a drive letter by using Computer Management.

Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

In the Navigation pane, click Disk Management.

Right-click the partition or drive that you want to change, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.

Do one of the following:

To assign a drive letter if one has not already been assigned, click Add, click the letter that you want to use, and then click OK.

To change a drive letter, click Change, click Assign the following drive letter, click the letter that you want to use, and then click OK.

To remove a drive letter, click Remove, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to remove it.

SATA drive or IDE? Chances are it's a drive recognition issue, 64bit Windows has all kinds of bullshit problems. Run a linux distro from VirtualBox and I bet my ass the drive will show up when it doesn't in Winblowz

ran the smart test cock mentioned and everything checked. I think its just dying slowly. I've backed up everything important and will replace it when it bites the dust.
