Get out of the way.

srsly though, i commute from hamilton to richmond hill and back every day. does anyone know a better way to get past mississauga without taking a 400-series highway? (one that is faster during rush hour obviously)

From Hamilton? Unfortunately no. I would say try taking the QEW, then hop north onto the 427... except I don't think you can do that.. not to mention the traffic going in the city would be retarded. You could always try connecting with Highway 7 somehow.

Unfortunately, Pyro, that kind of distance for commuting doesn't benefit you in any way. Taking streets other than some sort of 400-series highways will only cause you more time/stress/headaches.

And yes, james, QEW does connect to the bottom of the 427, which, in my every day commute, is a cluster fuck of bumper-to-bumper traffic. Big nono.

That's some crazy commitment you got there.

The problem here is that you, along with a handful of people from Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Kitchener and Hamilton are trying to get into the city. It's hopeless either way.

milton becoming city-sized now has fucked up the 401. and especially how slow they're taking to do the collector's at hurontario, they started that 2 years ago, and haven't even finished re-doing the bridge yet. :/

$25 a day on gas. just got word that a corporate transponder for the 407 is in the mail. cha-ching!
$20 each way to take the 407 to its maximum potential

my normal route so far: QEW to the DVP. simple and actually relatively fast if traffic permits (which it does 75% of the time). 75% may sound good, but a traffic jam every 4 trips is what it really means so fml.
MINIMUM trip length 1-way: 1.5hrs
when somebody crashes or a car stalls somewhere in front of me: 3hrs

i finished work today at 4pm. halfway down the DVP(4:17pm), radio says gardiner (part of the QEW for people who arent familiar with area) had a serious collision. so i turned that bitch around and went the other way up the DVP (a bad idea, but better than any other option) to get to the 407. 2 hours later (6:17), I made it onto the 407. why does the 407 cost so much? because it got me back in an hour. then i got back onto publicly funded pavement and it took me 20minutes to get over a bridge.

im not rich enough :(

minimum round trip 3 hours so let's say average 4 hours in a 5 day work week that's 20 hours a week of time lost that you don't get paid a cent for. so basically 60 hours of work for 40 hours of pay. you could take a job locally for a significant pay cut, earn the same per average hour lost and not have the stress of the commute rob even more time from your life. TIME IS MONEY AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD.

believe me when i say that i would not be doing this if it wasn't going to be worth it in the long run. 1,000,000 times better than my old job (even with the huge commute) and room for upwards mobility at this company. and really when i think about it... rob me of time from my life? more like rob me from time playing video games... oh well.
