Foolish moderator on Darkly Toronto Trade Server.

a Spy Crabber by the name of "I AM THE SPY" came on, i bet him a painted Furious Fargaramaa and he bet a hat i dont even remember im so mad. After i won, with three witnesses, he claims in voice chat "i won, first to 3 wins" Even after we specified the rules. After bickering, DARKLY | DoubleJump comes on. I say in admin chat that he has scammed. With my 3 witnesses, double jump says thats not evidince and i needed a screen shot, which is impossible considering that he used voice chat to say he won and specified the rules with. Double jump told me to leave it alone, so everytime "I AM THE SPY" traded, i warned the other trader about what happened, and so did my witnesses, so they would proceed with caution. DoubleJump didnt like this. He gagged me, and left. Im not gonna let that happen. Im sorry, i wont warn people again, but i advise you fix this problem person.

The Moderator was indeed correct that witnesses are not evidence; we cannot take action against players based solely off witnesses' testimonies, regardless of the quantity. Regardless of whether or not a player allegedly scammed you, constantly and publicly accusing him/her as such, including in the manner you described, is an inappropriate response and when repeated will result in repercussions.

In the event that you're scammed, the appropriate action is to report the player in-game by typing !report in-game and then also filing a scammer report on our forums in the Scammer Reports section. You can also contact a staff member for help with this process. This ensures that any available evidence can be properly analyzed, that the alleged scammer can be recorded in our system, and if he/she is found guilty he/she can be banned from our servers and tagged on SteamRep. If you're scammed in the future, please follow these steps to ensure proper action is taken against the player and to prevent accidental violations of server guidelines.

If you still wish to report the Moderator in question for abuse, misuse of abilities, or other misdeeds, please contact me privately. Staff members can also be reports via !report in-game.

Thank you for the feedback. I would like to point out that DoubleJumper is entirely correct about witnesses not being evidence.

We follow the evidence guidelines set by SteamRep and they do not accept witnesses as evidence, so therefore, we don't either. While it is incredibly frustrating, it is the nature of the beast.

I appreciate your taking the extra steps to protect other traders, but I notice in the chat logs that DoubleJumper told you to drop it and I see in your chat logs that you refused. He is therefore entirely within his rights to gag you, as he, a Moderator, told you to stop and you did not do so. In fact, looking further back at your chat logs, I see quite a bit of rudeness and hostility, not to mention spam.

So I would ask, please, that you do not come onto these forums, with incomplete information, and insult our moderators. I would have done the exact same thing in DoubleJumper's situation, given the lack of evidence.

I strongly advise that you revisit the rules section, and if you want to continue protecting other traders, please refer to SteamRep's forums to gain a better understanding of what it is they do with scammers based on the evidence provided.

It looks like i got the same exact response from two different people. Yes, i do regret Insulting him, but i was extremely fustrated when he told me i shouldnt warn people about his ehtics. I dont see whats wrong about warning them, if someone was scamming on a server, and no one told me about it, i wouldnt be very happy. Ive been playing here a long time, ive seen this before, and its usually handled, and for the record, i did report him, then i was gagged for it. I later saw that "I AM A SPY" added him. I see your point as witnesses not counting as evidience, as you may think them being friends, but you can see i never added them, i barely remember their names as is, and how do i get a screeny of someone voice chatting?

It's server policy that players do not constantly 'warn' others about alleged scammers. While I certainly don't mean to say you must be absolutely silent and do nothing, but we generally upbraid such behavior for numerous reasons: oftentimes the constant 'warnings' are disruptive to the rest of server when constant; doing so can often incite argument from the alleged player, which just results in more server disruption; the vast majority of the time, when someone says "so-and-so is a scammer!", so-and-so is in fact not and the accusation is false/baseless/not following our thresholds; when these false or unconfirmed accusations and repeatedly and publicly announced, it can unfairly damage the alleged scammer's trading opportunities - accusations without firm evidence count, because for all we know you're just trying to manipulate his/her prices or perform some other form of manipulation.

All that said, it'd be unreasonable to bar it completely. A calm, non-provoking warning/announcement can certainly be announced once or twice, as a warning to other players, but that's it. They've gotten the message, they don't need it multiple times.

Chat logs of other players can be used as evidence - we have different standards for SteamRep tags versus local bans. Recording demos is relatively easy and would provide most evidence needed. Using a middleman is also an option to prevent such predicaments, but not required.

As for the report, I don't see in our records. Did you report him elsewhere?

Well when one of the witnesses said is hould (His name was charmapped, but it spelt out E-Rect) i did @I AM THE SPY has scammed us, with witnesses. and about a minute later i was gagged. Alright, guess you can lock this topic, ill help scammers next time.
