I know you guys probably aren't accountants, but I'm wondering if anyone is in a similar situation as me - I made about $21 000 last year and payed about $2500 in tax and when I go to money mart I'm hoping I get back at least $1000 instead of getting annoying $200-300 bill. Does anyone in my situation know if I'll get money back?

okay this is what my accounting program spits at me when i tell it that you are a full time worker making 21 000 a year with no special benefits
your montly paycheck is as follows:
net 1750
cpp 72.19
ei 30.28
tax 154.79
cash in hand 1492.74
at the end of the year, you have
17912 cash in hand
you would have paid:
866 to CPP
360 to EI
1848 as Income Tax
your net deducted is 3074
if you say you only paid 2500 in "taxes", theny ou technically still owe 500 bucks
what i want to know is who is writing your paycheques.. and how exactly are they breaking them down.
