Narf! I'm finding more posts with people having your problem online..

Have you tried disabling your whole anti-virus/firewall & then launching the game directly without using the launcher?
Programfiles->zenimaxonline->the elderscrolls online->game->client->eso.exe

try that my bruised banana :(

I've tried that, Stve :( but I'll try again maybe there's be an update

EDIT: I already had exceptions in there for AV and FW, but I've tried it again with it off and running just the eso.exe. The problem isn't with the laucher per se as it exhibits the same symptoms: hourglass appears, my cpu goes from ~2% to ~25% usage for a few seconds and then comes back down to ~2% again and nothing happens.

what does the game do when you launch the .exe instead of the launcher? Just not launch?

Same thing whether I launch it thru the laucher or exo.exe. So what that tells me is that it's not the launcher not launching exo.exe, but rather the exo.exe not doing anything or that it tries to start up and fails after 5 seconds. Task manager doesn't even show it.

Just was in a epic AvAvA war with about 150 people from each faction fighting over one castle. 500 or so people in a small radius and no lag, fucking bad ass.

So. Epic.

+1, I can hook you up. I'll upload the ISO and crack to my dropbox if you want...

OG buckshot jr can you comment on this topic..

question about old XP and 32/64 bit os/programs. Correct me if I'm wrong but XP didn't have any way to support the other bit structure right? You had to buy versions of games/programs specific to the type of OS you ran? Most games / programs came with both versions and you picks which one you wanted to install ?

ESO beta is 32bit exclusively, and narf is on 64 bit XP. I am thinking that is the problem he is having.

Whereas Vista/7/8 support legacy modes/emulation mode for programs that are exclusive to 32bit if you are on 64bit.. right?

Not exactly. This isn't the case. 64-bit architecture can compute 32-bit architecture, but not vice-versa (i.e. A 32-bit system will not be able to run an application coded in only 64-bit architecture; however the reverse is true).

XP also has the ability to run applications in in compatability mode (namely, in Narf's case: XP SP3), however I think he's already running that, just under as 64-bit.

He should not be encountering an error because of the architecture. I'd say it's more of a platform design issue, the way XP might handle code of today. Ultimately, I'd like to see Narf post some errors/logs and I can better speculate what's going on.

I've already tried looking in to that and even explicityly specifying that it runs in compatibility mode. Also, there are no errors or logs because it doesn't even get that far.

Hourglass for a few seconds, during that time, CPU usage goes up to 25% from 2%. Then it drops back down to 2%. Doesn't show up in process table or task manager.

OK, so your os is not parsing the exe along with the dlls required.

I'd recommend looking into:
- .NET framework updates
- java
- visual c++ 2008/2010 updates
- while you're at it, directx

That's my recommendation..

Edit: forgot to ask: try to run game with firewall disabled and antivirus off?

We must figure this out! I refuse to play this game(that I already love) without my narfy!

My system is always up-to-date on drivers and Windows updates. Also have tried with FW and AV off
