noooo ice you seriously have to read the 1st, its amazing, as good as the HBO series is, if you jump into the 2nd right away you'll probably feel something is missing

If you like to read, check out Steven Erikson's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malazan_Book_of_the_Fallen. It's 10 books, last of which released this year, with a cast of characters longer than a few holy books combined. I read them twice already... amazing books!

I just started the second book. There was definitely some significant events (and potentially people) left out in the HBO series. Its a very good book, however it feels very slow at times (the first book). It took me nearly 5 days to read because I kept falling asleep.

I hope Catelyn gets killed off for making dumb ass decisions.

Song of Ice n Fire series is pretty sweet. Game of Thrones is a good book. The only complaint I have about the book is how the chapters are major characters and their perspectives. So, if you like say, Tyrion Lannister or Jon Snow, the chapters are pretty sweet to read. There are more dialogues n characters within the book than the HBO show could realistically offer. However, if you loathe characters like...Sansa and find yourself turning the former chapter to her you want to just skip it outright lol.

You guys read that interview they did with Olivia Munn on Playboy? I would skip the first few dozen issues as there have been some plot twists here and there. Start from 2004; that was a good year. Lot of character development and just when you thought such-and-such was done for, they make a reappearance a few years later.
