Agree completely. However when you enter politics, become a pro athlete or a celeb etc that goes out the window
You see, I don't think it should. Why does one person have to sacrifice themselves to our judgment while another doesn't? A pro athlete is no more or less a person than I am. There was a time when I was seriously considering a life as a newscaster. I turned my back on it because I would NOT sacrifice my anonymity and my personal life to the masses. Should I have to conform to society's judgments because my job involves putting my face on television?
That's a double standard, and I do not believe in double standards. If we did not judge politicians for their personal choices, would they all be so full of shit?
I am not, by my nature, deceptive. However, in order to live the life I wish to live, I would have had to deceive the masses in order to protect my sense of self and my own personal choices were I to become a "public figure" and be an active member of the popular media. I have MANY friends who work in the media, and they all agree I would make an excellent journalist IF I were willing to work on my image and my "Likability". I am not, and so I close the door to this career opportunity.
The same has been said of a career in politics. The irony is, these same personality traits which make me suited towards a life as a politician or a journalist; IE an innate sense of justice, objectivity, and a refusal to be influence or swayed in my opinions by the thoughts and feelings of others, is the same thing that makes me "unfit" to be a public figure.
Were we not so judgemenalt of celebrities, politicians in particular, perhaps a few more of them would be honest people who did us justice rather than slimy cock-sucking toads who succeed because they lack moral fibre and excel in the art of deception, subversion and betrayal.
Something to think about the next time you pass judgment on someone in the public eye. As harsh as it is to admit, this is a reflection of your own envy and little else. There is a sick inclination in the human spirit to resent and attempt to destroy those who achieve. HATERS are
Having
Anger
Towards
Everyone
Reaching
Success
Not everyone who is capable of success in the public eye gets off on having haters and snubbing their nose at them. Such vanity and ego often gets in the way of their success at what they are meant to do, depending on the source of their celebrity. But I'll shut up before I get too technical.
