So just now some random added me on steam, guy called olBaa, he was wanting to buy my unusual and the conversation in the NSFW tags ensued, if you would be so kind to go read it before reading further.

Not too long, but I hid it with the NSFW tags anyway. I guess what I'm asking is if he seems legit to you guys? Despite him just randomly adding me to be reason enough for me not to trust him, as far as I know i'm not a member of your steam group, although I guess it has a link to your site/forums where he could have seen my thread, which is 1 of the only places I've mentioned about selling my Unusual. The second place being on Toronto #2, although I'm not even advertising it in my bind, the only time i've ever mentioned about selling it was in 1 or 2 conversations with Pree and even though my memory isn't great, I don't recall ever seeing this guy on Toronto #2. His profile aslo has those comments from people saying +rep and that shit, personally if these kind of comments on peoples profile is legit or not, they seem pretty fucking shifty to me.

Was I just being paranoid? His SteamREP seemed ok, other than having 3 scammer friends. After he said that last part I thought about it for a moment then just decided to block him.

Regarding his random add; there are plenty of tools out there to find unusuals. It's a common practice, both by legitimate traders and sharks/scammers. Just be wary.

Guess I'll add him and chat for a bit more, if he accepts the invite. I saw that Dolph and Handsome have the same kind of comments on their profiles, so I guess it's not a shifty as it might seem. I'll be wary though yeah, rather than just assuming he's up to no good.

All the +rep is from people on tf2outpost or tf2tp. I have a lot of that on my profile aswell. While he seems to be legit, still stay cautious. Anyone could be a shark.

I know what you mean, he said he's from Russia and he even apologized for his 'bad english' lol but as far as I can tell it seems pretty perfect?

A day or 2 ago I was Toronto #2 and I asked Tick Tock Man (some of you tf2 players may know of him) if he could hazard a guess at the price of my unusual since he has quite a few himself and knows about the prices and such, it was him who said probably about 1.5-1.8 buds. olBaa was telling me about how a Scorching Tungsten Toque is worth like 3 buds, and mine would be around maybe 2.5-3, 3-3.5 buds. He said he could give me 3 buds so that I could buy a Scorching TT if I wanted it, and this was after I told him I was selling mine because I don't really play heavy, even in pubs. We agree on a price of 2 buds, 12 keys and some crafts hats, he then asked if I would be tomorrow and said that if I change my mind to make sure to message him, and told me that he was talking to a guy for like 4 hours before finally agreeing on a price for his unusual being 4 buds, which he got, and then the guy said to him he'd rather keep it.

I don't know, he seems like a nice guy, but that said i'm way too trusting with people.

Edit: I see Gatherix has posted in my PC thread for my unusual saying 5 buds, although it's a maybe and all we can really do with most of the unusual effects right now is hazard a guess but would anyone else agree with him?

Those are never very popular.
Pretty soon the 1.5 bud price will probably be about right.
And if you're going to be getting around 2 buds + for it, personally that's great.

This is all the opinion who buys very low and sells at the cheapest on the market.
In my opinion, if it's still giving you a profit that you're happy with, why push for more.
Let the other poor sucker struggle to sell it for more :P

Haha yeah that makes sense, I will admit i'm pretty happy with what we agreed on atleast. I've never been that rich so although i'll probably keep 1 of the buds, to me i'm still getting ALOT of keys.

Edit: We just did the trade now, 2 buds and 8 keys. Although we agreed on 12 keys he was struggling a bit to get everything, so I agreed to 8 and he threw in like 11 robo hats/miscs, a strange RL and a sticky jumper.

Zackychuu hit it right on the head - if you are happy with the price you got, it's all good. Prices are not set in stone by any stretch, but the average trading price is a good place to start a negotiation. All in all I'd say you did pretty well.

That's because backpack.tf is corrupt, do not rely on their prices to make judgement on your items, use other sites along with their quotes, such as TF2 Trends or Trader Empire.

Haha yeah I tend to stay away from Backpack.tf but the only problem is that on the Darkly servers when you price check something it uses Backpack.tf! So most of the time you just can't stay away from it
