Dedicated Server

As radical as it may seem, sooner or later you will have to think about expanding to a dedicated server to suit the server's demand. Dedicated servers range from $80-120 per month, but it can be cheaper on special promotions. It will allow for a huge server(s) expansion plus will take almost all of the lag away on days when the server is full. A gameserver on a shared server is not ideal for a 24+ slot server with 100tic.

Advantages:
- More servers
- Total control
- Server resources are under your control thus you can remove lag and choke

Disadvantages:
- Cost
- Requires knowledge (this is only a disadvantage if you've never worked with linux or maintained a server, but theres tons of tutorials out there)

To make up for the cost, you can look into donations but that can lead to problems if you come up short. So i'm gonna give examples of what other communites do: Q Servers give benefits to donations like 16k every rnd, ability to buy other team's guns, switch teams, immunity to autoteambalance, reserved slot : Underground servers: 16k/10k (not sure which one) every rnd, immunity to autoteambalance, etc. While other communities just offer reserved slot for donations.

It seems pretty radical but i'm just throwing the idea out there for future uses and/or present ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. The dedicated server has been in works for a while now, the BHA is simply having a difficult time finding one in Toronto (there aren't any available), and they would like to stay local. One of them can probably give more details, I just hear what trickles down.

I have been in the looks for a toronto one as well, but cannot find one that is CHEAP.

I spoke to Peer1/ServerBeach sales reps, and they said their datacenters in Toronto will be opening up dedicated box hosting around sep-dec of this year. So kinda late, but they will have the best peering if up.

However, if you guys want you can co-locate with them at their toronto datacenter already, since thats up and running. However it will fall a bit (actually a lot) more expensive than dedicated hosting, bandwidth costs in Toronto are amazingly high.

The server host I currently use, which not that great pings for most since its Hamilton (not that far off from Toronto tho!) is http://www.caratnetworks.com. You can get a cheap server with them and etc, and yeah not THAT bad, but not Toronto.

P.S. Also came across http://www.sevenl.net/dedicated-server-hosting/?series=core2 :P

The rest that I found are located in Montreal :S

We are already on it. We've been discussing a dedicated server since January. We've been in contact with peer1 and many other hosts on several occasions regarding a dedicated box. We have an ETA, we are just waiting. But at some point this year, it will happen.
