CS:S Problem

soo ok i run css and everytime i join a server im very laggy and glitchy im getting awesome fps and low ping i just dont understand the problem. i know u probally need more information to help just looking for some general ideas of what it could be

its good i thought it was that too but then i tested a bunch of games and there running fine and smooth so it has me lost im currently uninstalling and reinstalling it again

You running windowed mode?
You running other games while running CSS?
You running a browser window in the background? (not the steam one)
You run bloom/lighting, and do you have vert sync off?
Do you use proper rates?

I would check a few things:
1 ) Defrag your gamecache
2 ) Verify Game Files
3 ) Verify and/or reinstall latest Direct X
4 ) Make sure you're not running something that forces a Direct X / D3D version or OpenGL forceware etc.
5 ) Maybe something in your config - I'd save the important shit like mouse and key binds elsewhere (a text file will do), delete your config, launch the game. This will auto-generate a new, standard config. Then exit the game, paste in the shit from your old config you saved and retry.

Holler, I've got more ideas.

EDIT: If you run CS:S using any custom skins, then I won't even touch that. It could be any one skin that could potentially cause this issue.

well see i wish i could do all that i just started playing css again after 2yrs almost i need the command codes for prompt for rates and also how do i defrag said cache i smoke alot of pot sadly and im just not good with tech anymore :/

Ye i use rate 30,000 when the game does update you have to put the rate in again.

You can check the links in my signature for rates/interp explanation. But yes, those are ok for a stock config and shouldn't be causing your lag. As for defragging cache/verifying blah blah GOOGLE! I heard that shit works...

Ye i use rate 30,000 when the game does update you have to put the rate in again.

put (rate 30000) in your autoexec.cfg or config.cfg file. Than you never have to worry about changing ot again

i did, i could hear just couldn't figure out how to talk. whenever i clicked the settings button in the group chat nothing happened. plus i rage quit, man i need to start playing that more it felt so foreign to me last night.
