I know sound plays a large role in playing, but I never imagined that enemies could here you reload! Is this accurate?

Yes, it is. You can cut down the amount of sound you put out by quick switching, though. When reloading, as soon as the animation of replacing the magazine is finished (exactly when you see the new mag put in), quick switch before the rest of the animation plays out. Contrary to popular belief, doing this will not enable you to shoot again faster, but it will reduce the amount of sound that comes from you. Reloading is a global sound effect. Everyone hears it.

Also, learning to not reload after a kill was one of the hardest things for me. I still do it occasionally

True dat. BF had(has) me in a habit of reloading, you gotta manage dat clip a lot better in CS
