CS:GO is not so bad

from what i remember, ppl hated css when it dropped. the game was fucky. then they patched the shit out of it, to the point where they went back to 1.6 player models. if u remember, original css models were of the hunch-back variety. as for csgo, its still fucky, but playable and im sure they will patch it some more. as for the guns, they are still tweaking them. the poor ak has been brutalized. guns that actually hit shit: famas, m4 silenced, aug. the main difference, which is probably more of a good thing than bad, is the movement penalty. no more running full speed, popping off headshots, which forces u to play more strategically. this also solves the insanely op p90 problem in css. most important of all, the more bros play, the more fun the game will be. they've got it to the point where its playable, which is good enough for me. hope they fix the fucking scoreboard for 32 ppl, ffuuuu.

Look I'm not going to lie to you guys. CS:GO is pretty bad compared to our baby CSS or its mother 1.5/1.6 but I will say this: I finally picked up playing CS:GO last week out of shear boredom. Here is the reality for me: Even a terrible CS game is better than the other titles I have at my disposal. arma3, RTW2, COH2, WoW, WarZ, blah blah blah flavor of the month blah all are inferior to CS:GO. I don't like the turn they've taken with physics and other things in this one, but oh well. Maybe we will be lucky and CS:GO is just a filler until a new CS is released with HL3.

I will say it is good to see some of you around on the server. Hope to see some more of you in the future...

P.S. IS THERE A EGON FOR CSGO AND CAN WE SUBJECT THE PUBBIES TO IT PLOX!

Everytime I jump on CS:GO I hope to see the TD OGs playing as well. Soon you will all learn to love it.

if by "love it" you mean "tolerate it or hate it but allow it to fuck you in the ass anyways" then yes, we will learn to love it.

i don't get GO

the more I try to play correctly, aiming for heads, taking my time to shoot, the worse I do. Shots to the head miss, or register as body shots, and I die. When I play without thinking, shooting center mass and spray like an idiot, I do well.

no consistency

i'll go for 3-4 rounds dying like a noob, then kill 4-6 in a single match. Makes no fucking sense.

also, the aug is a killer gun, I play with it always zoomed in and get amazing accuracy

Tips to be more consistent:
- Set windows sensitivity to 6/11 (Control Panel/Mouse Properties/Pointer Options)
- Uncheck "Enhance pointer precision"
- Play with a lower mouse DPI/CPI (I use 450)
- Set polling rate to 1000Hz
- Set CS:GO mouse sensitivity to a lower setting (I use 2.5)
- Raw input off (I used on until recently, and my aim improved)
- Mouse acceleration off
- Vsync off
- Set your max frame rate to 300, and do whatever it takes to get the game running at 200-300fps
- Turn down all of your graphics settings (AF can be left on)
- Play Deathmatch a lot (Practice spray control, tap shooting, etc.)
- Calm your nerves by whatever means necessary
- Make sure your rates are set correctly

that I've been doing that since 1999

but thanks anyway, I guess

What is your frame rate like with 31 other players? I know it varies, but can you give me an idea of specific areas on certain maps, etc.?

And when I experience server lag, that also fucks with my aim. I find it very hard to react quickly and do good spray control when the server is laggy.

max fps at 200-300? Do you even research what you're advising??
What's wrong with recommending he set his max fps to 300? In fact, I think by default it's set to 300. I'm just trying to help, dude.

Recommending that he should play with a high frame rate is the only recommendation that's even remotely controversial. I freely admit that I can in no way point to any study to validate this claim by showing that playing with a higher frame rate/perceiving more frames per second by way of a higher refresh rate monitor can improve the way you play a game. However, in my experience, it feels like there's less input latency the higher up your frame rate is. I've experimented with a lot of configs for CS:GO. My advice is on the table. Take it or leave it. It's up to you.

What I mean is setting it at 300 has no effect on gameplay. If anything, you should be locking your fps to your screen's refresh rate, but I still choose 100 because I notice it's less choppy than 60 (my monitor is 60hz). This will help mitigate any aliasing, and thus remove the need for anti-aliasing.

Also, if you're trying to run GO at 300fps, you'll be pushing your equipment unnecessarily harder with no gain.

I absolutely agree that running at a higher frame rate will push your hardware, but I obviously don't agree that it's without gain. Again, I can't point to anything to validate this. I only have my personal experience to rely on here.

I have a theory, though. I think that having a higher and more consistent frame rate together helps with both input latency as well as muscle memory. Using good mouse settings also, of course, helps tremendously with muscle memory, but it also has a lot to do with frame rate, I believe. There's a reason why so many FPS gamers are running out to get 120Hz or 144Hz monitors, and it's because you can perceive more of the frames that are being rendered. But I also think that input latency is tied to frame rate in CS:GO somehow so that even if you don't have a high refresh rate monitor, you'll still benefit from playing the game at a frame rate that's higher than your refresh rate.

I could elaborate on this if anyone wants me to, but I think that the best course of action for anyone wanting to improve their game that's reading this is to experiment. Try locking your frame rate to your screen's fresh rate, try setting your max FPS at 300 - see what feels better to you. Don't mistake this as me being indecisive, though. Respectfully, I think that I'm right and BJ's wrong, but I can't back myself up with anything concrete.
