Children after 40?

Is it too late to have children after 40? Why?

my dad had me beyond the age of 40, i think its fine. sometimes its kind of depressing for me considering that i wont have as long as a time to be with my father, and i want him to be able to hold his grandkid once i have one. so from the perspective of someone who is in the situation i think as long as your dad is an active guy who can handle a kid, like mine can, there is nothing wrong with it apart from some harsh realities.

the older a woman gets, the greater chance of birth complications and babies being born with genetic shortcomings (poor immume systems, motorskills, etc etc)

for the guy it doesnt matter.. but i feel a father should be fit enough to play soccer with his kid or something.

edir: about the topic: women should have kids earlier because of complications, like Fork said. best babies are from younger mothers and older fathers.

bawww, why have a kid, with the time and loot you save you can just hire someone to take care of you when your old, not like anyones kids these days would actually take care of their elders anyways lol

I am 39, we have a 20 month old boy and we have another one due July 7th. Fatherhood is very rewarding and wonderful, my son is a very sensitive and intelligent little guy, and it makes my day to have breakfast with him in the mornings and see him waiting for me to get home. I don't think I could have had kids in my 20's or even early 30's, I was too busy being a drunken man whore.

one thing i know for sure is it doesnt matter how late you have a kid as long as you can still be a good father to them until the day you die. that means first doing everything you can to prolong your mental health and second doing everything you can to prolong your physical health. i wouldn't recommend anyone who has an alcohol problem at the age of 40 to even bother, not that i'm implying anything because i really don't know i'm just saying long-term alco abuse causes serious mental damage after 60 no matter how good your genes are or how petty you think your abuse may be.

9 year old and 4 month old, all before I hit 40, wife is early 30s, having my 9 year old when I was in my late 20s calmed me down nicely . There's nothing like being a parent, changes you in ways you would of never thought of, be it in your 20s / 30s / 40s / 50s (yikes!).

I say as a guy, 30's or 40's is a perfect age, then you have the 30-40 years experience to be a father able to teach your kids about life. after 60 tho you may start to get slow before your kids know everything they need to.

not that I would know yet, being 20. but it seems like all the really centered guys are over 35
