So I'll give you some info on what I am looking to get out of this. I have had this looked over several times but I wanted to get your guy's opinion as well. The most important thing to me is the reliability/quality of the item. I really don't care about trying to reduce the total price tag, (example would be "you should get ASRock Motherboard because it's cheaper and it does everything the one you have chosen does") I'd go up to $2000 if necessary.

Parts that I'm iffy about would be the cooler, motherboard (mostly concerned about the reliability, showing up dead).

I want to try and stick to Corsair and Asus for the parts I already have selected and the color theme is Black/Blue. If anyone could recommend some case fans that will work with the case I have chosen that would be great.

neat build, parts look good. only recommendation I could make for you is if you're going to be frapsing videos is to pickup a 2TB+ HD instead.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 is a good heat sink you selected, also if you plan on overclocking I'd suggest getting a Noctua fan($20 well spent) for your cpu heatsink, and run a push/pull config with the stock fan in the back.

also it would be a good choice to upgrade to a full size tower most of them come with pretty good fans on them. eg Haf-932 case or the Hafx case from coolmaster

dont know why you want blueray but to each their own I suppose
if you dump the blueray player you can up your ram to 16gb

Which Noctua cooler would you recommend? They are all roughly the same price.

I might drop the blu-ray for now and get it later, but do I really need 16gb of ram, I have 6 on my laptop and I don't come close to using it all.

when i upgraded from 6gm ram to 12 = zero difference.

thats a badass video card, u might be able to get away with less, i still run shit like a boss with a 5850. but if u got the $, then 680 fuck yeah !

from noctua coolers = i use noctua 12, or u can go more badass with noctua14, but make sure u have clearance, its huge.

case = any haf owner will give it a big FUCK YEAH. u can find a haf932 for just over 100$ is u shop around.

Is the cable management on the haf932 pretty good? Good quality like corsair and attention to detail? I originally had the haf932 picked out when I first started putting this together, wanted the blue one so I might actually get that instead. Gonna watch some vids cuz I am getting it this weekend for sure cuz I'm tired of waiting.

Edit: So the noctua 14 would fit in the haf932 blue?

Edit2: As for the GPU, the reason I am going with the gtx680 CUii is because heat, I have problems with heat on my laptop and I don't want to deal with that anymore so it's really a piece of mind type of thing. I know gtx680's run around 65-70 and this one runs around 45-50 under full load so it's defiantly worth it to me.

Edit3: Can I also get some recommendations for where to buy from. I use Newegg but if I can find stuff cheaper at reputable places that'd be great.

Edit2:

a mid-size sedan fits into haf932. what u gotta check is whether noctua14 will fit your motherboard. is doesnt fit some mobos because of protruding stuff like heatsinks, etc. for example, my ram had fins on top, i wouldve had to take the fins off to fit it. i was just lazy/impatient, so i rolled with the noctua12

I second this notion 8gb will get you by.

and those two noctua coolers are top notch

ivyyy briiiidge woo!
good choice on the i5 if you are gaming>running rendering software.

NH-C12P SE14 is the fan you want, i believe. from noctua website: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=35&lng=en#LGA1155
i have a noctua as well. they are godly. your ram will be covered by this thing. but you can adjust the monster for easy under-access if you need to change the ram. MAKE SURE YOUR RAM IS NOT HIGHER THAN 44mm. and it comes with good contact.

i recommend the HAF cases. haf-932 over here. it has water cooling compatibility but doesnt fucking need it because the mesh and fans are awesome.

Updated Parts: You guys talked me back into the haf932, I really do like the look a lot more than the 650D and from what you guys are saying I should probably move into when it arrives. Changed the cooler to Noctua and dropped the blu-ray simply because I knew I wouldn't be using it for a while.

Looks like most of my stuff can be bought from Newegg, Amazon, NCIX US, and in store pick-up at micro-center which is right down the road.

Will there be empty slots where I need to ad a fan or 2 or does the haf932 come fully stocked?

Any other opinions?

there is room customizing the fan set up, but it comes stock with 3 huge fans and a nice sized back fan.

you wont need more fans unless doing heavy overclocking. the noctua will cool the whole thing down by quite a bit, and lile stve said, the case has 3 good fans already

SOLID BUILD! I am sure you will be happy bro.

However, b/c I am the kind of dude that hangs onto a system for 4-5 years by only changing the video card after 2 or 3... I recommend shifting your total spend around a bit.
- love the direct CuII (awesome o/c ability) but suggest you save $$ and get the 670 instead then
- spend the $$ by going 3770K and Noctua DH-14, and upping the mobo to Pro, 16 vs 12 phases, but only if you're O/C'ing big time

Should cost about the same, but the difference is everything but your GPU will be current for 4-5 years, which you can replace with something 2x the 680 for 1/2 the price after 2-3 years.

BUT! If you're only running your system 3years... go with what you got and have fun!

I will eventually overclock it but since it will be able to run anything without being overclocked I'd rather just make the CPU last a little longer until I actually need the extra performance. Should I just go with the Pro version because I was looking at it earlier today and to be honest, if I don't really understand one part on here it is the mobo. Even if I don't everclock it to the extreme would the 16 phases be of any benefit vs. the 12?

Edit: From googling for a second - "
Any board with more than eight phases will likely overclock the CPU to its limits. 12 vs 16 really won't make a difference." Is this correct?

Short version (but debateable) more phases = more stability and in some cases longevity.
Unless you're pushing your OC hard, the 12 is likely enough.
Insofar as making the CPU last longer, as long as you never exceed max volts nor max temps, lifespan should be unaltered.
