spooge worthy!

FWIW, my current Q9550 is 4 1/2 years old and has been consistenly OC'd from 2.83GHZ to 3.4 to 3.8hz (never less than the 3.4)
Right now, running at 3.740 b/c it lets my OC'd cu II 6870 run at 99-100% while only running at 80% or so itself for BF3 at some ultra some high 80 to 100FPS

Just bought the motherboard, CPU, and both hard drives at microcenter. Cheaper than buying online actaully since I saved $50 with the bundle cpu/motherboard. Now to go home and buy the rest.

Since I ended up getting a pretty good air cooler and a "somewhat" better motherboard for overclocking, how fast do you think I could push it at the very max and then what do you think I should settle on for the best power consumption to performance ratio? I realize every chip is different but lets talk in general what I should be expecting. As for temperatures, I've seen some information where people are around 4.2-4.5 and hover around 60c under load. What should I realistically expect temperature wise? And as for the cooler, should I use the thermal paste that comes with it or do you guys recommend something else that is of better quality that would help keep it cooler?

Don't overclock it to the max! That is VERY risky overclocking to the very max and you could risk just having that new computer as a paper weight.

I never intended to I was just curious, I'm more interested in the power consumption to performance ratio.

so do that. power consumption-wise, i think the intels do something power stepping something something rocket science, idk what im talking about :D

as for the goo, i use arctic silver 5. be careful with metallic goo though, u cant get sloppy with it because its conductive.

Gonna Pick up the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate and get a 256gb m4 instead of 128 so I can give zero fucks about space for the future, plus it's a little faster.

Just got back from talking with a guy in IT in my dad's company. He suggested to go with the i7 instead of the i5 if I could afford it so I am going to go with that. Also he suggested getting 2x8gb ram instead of the 2x4gb but other than that he thinks I got a kick ass system.

Btw he approves of the case! So ty

Yeah he agreed the contact is good, but he also recommended arctic silver as well too. It's cheap too.
