The problem is he can't pull out troops just yet as the government has been completely destabilized. Civil wars and complete chaos would ensue, and Iran would more than likely step in to fix things up, which is not something the States wants. The only way they could pull out is to make it so that Iraq could stand on its own two feet once again, is democratic, and has a leader who has no problem being a puppet of the USA. That's why the reporter was beaten so viciously, so that the new Iraqi government could please their American masters.

Or maybe because he attacked the leader of a nation that could wipe them off the map? Or maybe because he attacked someone at all... I don't care if that was a no-name american/canadian. If they assault one of our people we should be upset..

He was beaten in an Iraqi prison by Iraqis, not Americans. Don't you find that a bit odd? You'd think he'd be like a hero, doing what every other person in the region wished they had the balls to do.

If one of my friends went up to *insert your favorite UFC fighter here* and spit in his face... I'd punch him in the face because 1) it'll hurt much less than what the ufc fighter would do, 2) I might get involved because of his stupidity, and that's retarded for him to risk my involvement/punishment.
