Sure you can cure diseases. By medical definition, a "cure" for a disease is something that will remove it from the human body (this is obviously not word-for-word, just go with it). Think of Lysol and MRSA. MRSA was/is a serious agent, however some bullshit, off-the-Canadian-Tire-shelf can kill it with a spray, sit for 30 seconds, and a quick wipe.
I've studied the HIV virus, and it's one of the most simple diseases, next to cancer (please don't take offense, I'm speaking with reference to genetic structure here).
It's about time the governments allow some cures to get through. There was also news of a woman in Buffalo (?location) that was "cured" of cancer. They're trying to work on that now.
