Air Canada Strike - March 24, 2012

I spent 8 1/2 hours at Tokyo, waiting for my flight to Toronto. During this time, other travelers and I were not able to check in because no Air Canada representatives were present!
We had no Japanese currency on us. The airport's currency converter guy was on his break that was supposed to last 5 minutes, but he returned exactly 8 1/2 hours later, when my flight came.
Then we had to taxi on the runway for 1 hour or so, because there was a bit of fog and the controllers at the tower were too busy to care about us.
Air Canada, just pay your workers more and stop all this BS. Please.

8.5 hrs is still better than cancelled :tongue: Them not supplying "reps" to service check in isn't entirely AC's fault, most airports outside of Canada have 3rd party companies handling AC check in, baggage, and ramp (ie. contracted out). If that's the case in Tokyo, then who ever is being contracted to AC operations should have brought in people from other sections to accommodate you. Also, check in usually does not open until 4 hrs prior to departure time for checking in locally.

The currency fag is just being a douche, I'd complain about him and their business, maybe get discounts are currency exchange in the future.

Tower operations are random, at least you were only there for an hour. Also, the airlines have to pay to have their planes on the gates (kinda like renting the space) so as soon as they push you off the gate, it's in the tower's controls.

The walk out happened the Thursday night 22nd, and continued til late Friday morning. Montreal and Vancouver supported it with their own mini strikes or "breaks". Not sure where you the 24th from in your title? lol

In the end, for paying customers, you are getting raped. Which we are sorry for. If this job wasn't the countries main air carrier, or a small business, all this would be swept under the rug.

Yeah my mom had to have her flight pushed back a bit because of this. Sucks though, least she didn't have to wait like you in an airport o-o.
