Old news. Those chips (on both sides) are fail. They don't have proper memory controllers developed yet, hence the gains aren't noticeable. Even listen to that one guy's posting, "You'll save at least 10 minutes off of an hour encoding" - you fuckin kidding me?!? lol

Fuck that, stick quad/i-series, and just overclock a bit.

How many ppl still overclock these days, I gave that up about a gHz ago. Is it still useful. Will it make my hax better and more reliable?

i'd love a 12 core computer, thats like 3 quad cores all rolled into one, you can run your server with opteron i think.

isint it more like 3 dual cores on the same motherboard?

grabbed a pentium dual core e5200 last year for like 60 bucks, apparently it overclocks pretty good this guys got it running at 4.14GHz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCcgbd99CDc&NR=1 , i dunno if that would end up being noticeable improvement or not though.

@ Ares, hell ya overclocking helps a ton. What I noticed most pre- and post- overclocking is that my framerates haven't necessarily increased (on average), but my average drop in framerates are much, much less.

For example, on ad_egon_world, I have an average framerate of 80-100 (I limit to 100fps anyway). When I enter roof (or top bridge, whatever you want to call it) my fps would have dropped 40-60fps, however post-overclocking, they only drop to 60-70+. It really helps out in the intensive situations.

@ Dead Mike, no one in their right mind should ever buy a CPU clocked that high for that price. Buy a 2.x clocked cpu for about $200-300 and overclock. I.E. I have a Q6600, clocked @ 2.4Ghz stock - I have overclocked to 3.2Ghz with an absolute MAX temperature (no game makes it this high) to 54C.

@ Dead mike, LAWL at PS3. Has a single-core 3.2Ghz microchip (not cpu, micro's get WAY HOTTER). You can pick up a 3.2Ghz Intel Pentium D (which is duo-core) for about $60 that'll easily outperform it.

Also it features a 256Mb graphics processor capable of up to 25Gb/s bandwidth - equivalent to about a $60 PCI-based ATI/Nvidia graphics card.

None the less, it pumps out great graphics (granted which game we're talking about).

ive had ps3 lag out a few times, almost freeze on on fallout-the pit, and in oblivion, during a huge battle. i would be getting like 1fps lol
