    Stories from space

So one thing I repeatedly hear from non-EvE players is that they love the stories even though they have no interest in the game. As someone who loves writing, I think the awesome stories created in EvE are what draws me back time and time again (some days, I also have no interest in the game)...

    Liquid Cooling

Dazmode is the shop, but the owner only operates via mail order so there's no local pickup option AFAIK. TBPH, Koolance is the very last company I would ever buy watercooling gear from. I haven't looked at any of their recent stuff, but they've always been known for producing garbage that...

CTV Confirms Governments employing Internet Trolls

I'm still waiting on world war to break out so we can drop this bullshit pretense of peace and coexistence and get on board with the fact that we're already fighting a war for our minds and many don't even know it.

    Any good VPS host?

if you just try to drag n drop the whole kit kaboodle it might break everything if the new server has different upgrades/versions of utilities. just set up a fresh install of everything and migrate the forum database

    Various Network Issues

If you're using your ISP's DNS, I'd first try switching to Google's DNS (8.8.8.8) and seeing if that changes things. If not, try connecting a different computer/device to your router and seeing if you have the same issues, just to rule out the PC as a source of the problem.

    MMOs, VR, the future

that's exactly the thing though, the tech has been around for years but only now is there a serious effort to reinvigorate it because one company said fuck the corporations we're going to appeal directly to the market. the iphone technology had been around for years too, i remember in the very...

    MMOs, VR, the future

I feel like you missed what I was saying altogether. so I clarify: the technicalities of EvE are not the point here, the point is that it's now possible to put a fucktonne of people into a shared space together and they can communicate and affect each other. So what happens when the...

    MMOs, VR, the future

What inspires this post is an official summary (link) of an internet spaceship fight in China, which lasted for 23 hours and involved at the peak 3000 players on the field of battle, breaking the record again for the largest single engagement in a video game. A decade ago this would have been...

...in turn allows constructing quantum computers capable of operating at unimaginable speeds

interesting. someone should propose a quantum bus to mobo manufacturers so that eventually we can get an add-on card sort of like a discrete GPU but solely for crypto workloads

    Have you seen this?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-26824943 this ties into the talk, there's a link to the 12+ MB white paper in the article, basically the scientists are saying 'yes, we really have to start freaking out right now about this climate change shit'

    Have you seen this?

yea the last hour is kind of a struggle as Shane and Redban are drunk and stoned and just losing focus, but the first half is insane. they talk about the Crimea situation and about how the melting ice in the arctic is leading to a race for resources between Russia, Canada and the U.S., also...

    Have you seen this?

this talk broke my fucking mind for real. just the gravity of all the shit they're talking about, compounding and coming together right now into this epic clusterfuck of a situation. i'm sure we all know bits and pieces of the puzzle but hearing all this being talked about in one convo is...

    Steam Servers

I'm not convinced the recent problems haven't been caused by actual DDoS attacks. A lot of major game servers (eg. EvE) have been hit lately with DDoS and there are a bunch of tools and botnets out there to launch a DDoS attack from, and to make matters worse network infrastructure aids more...

I'd take pleasure in guttin' you, fool

I guess it was in response to that Nicholas Cage thread with a reference to The Rock, in which his character is threatened by an angry mercenary brandishing a knife. It was like the action film of the 90s, Sean Connery has lots of witty one-liners in it.

    Tablets.

I got my tablet specifically for this purpose as well and just went to dx.com and got one of Chinese ones. There's no DRM bullfuck, it actually shipped with a pirated version of Surrogates already on the internal memory, also came rooted so it was easy to get in and purge all the weird Chinese...
