    As far as my experience goes most viruses won't infect other shit. The evil ones will wreak havoc on the windows folder but they won't infect too much other shit. If you just grab pictures and documents you'll be safe. You can run antivirus on them after you get reformatted just for shits...

    lol, you don't need all that ram. I have 3 gigs ddr3 (although the faster kind, 1333 I think?) in my i7 righ and have no problems whatsoever. That's with everything maxed on any game I've tried, anything I've used for software development, whatever. Ram is easy to toss more in when you get money.
