not arguing with you making the most money

but not when you're making more than everyone else combined

at some point you really do not deserve more money because at some point you've ceased to be a pivotal factor in the success of your company.

How do you justify multi-million dollar salaries.... ON TOP of investment income.

I can agree with this. The other week, someone posted a picture of some woman who had a such an eye-opening quote, it's actually changed my opinions. She mentioned something along the lines "The businesses use the public roadways, using trucks and gas paid for by the people..". I'm not doing it any justice, but it was amazing.

BuckJR- completely agree with this and this is the reason people want to become entrepreneurs BUT the reality is most CEO's in today's world aren't the guys who develop the business from the ground up. They are a select group of the privileged class who rotate from one company to the next - this is how the upper class system is maintained.
The problem is the rate of returns for work done [salary] by the lower class is so disproportionate compared to what the privileged class earns and this earnings gap has widened considerably within the last 50 years.

YUP, now THIS i agree with, and we all see it in plain sight. They're just a bunch of blood-line Ivy-Leaguers who contribute fuck all.

Not to mention that a lot of those highly paid positions arn't even technical. They are all theoretical. People get rich by coming up with marketing plans and company restructuring (even though 99% of the legwork is done by "researchers", the young graduates that get paid entry level wages to provide single-page reports that the CEO then uses to "make decisions")

not to mention that many companeys turn profits and rake in bonus money by "restructuring", which is firing people and shutting down plants. So the company turns a profit on the books. Accounting profit = bonus for CEO and stakeholders. But this does little for long term growth.

There are countless of instances where a company's ceo cuts workers and runs the business into the ground while making money until the very last day.

our very own ORNAGE company. Their CEO was sitting in court defending his actions while getting paid nearly a million dollars in tax-payer money.

Start adding up these instances and you see how bullshit it all is.

Businesses pay for this with all the ridiculous tax they have to pay... on top of what they have to pay the government just to pay their worker's stupid deduction bullshit.

The problem is government... they spend taxpayer's money on soooo much bullshit... like a brains in a watch store.

ridiculous taxes? more like non existant.

the only businesses that pay taxes are small businesses, because they can't afford an army of accountants and the capital needed to create complex investment schemes that contineously divert funds to claim as little net income as possible.

don't forget where i work, man...

there is plenty of literature that depicts how corporations grew over the years to influence national tax policies to make them as exempt from tax as possible.

The more money you have, the easier it gets to not pay tax on it, that's the saddest fucking part.

Don't businesses get a ton of tax breaks? I'm no expert by any means, but I'm sure I've read that a million times, and every politician I've ever heard speak has always said 'business tax break' this and that, to help them flourish etc. Again, I don't know I'm right with certainty, but I'm sure I've read/heard about it...

businesses get all kinds of tax breaks, especially if you start listing your business under specific types of businesses and apply for various special statuses

all of which costs money to research and implement, not available to the average joe that wants to start up his sandwich shop.

money builds money! So if you don't have money to start, how can you possibly build anything?!

Applying for a business loan? Better fucking have a business plan. Can't make one? Hire a market research analyst! Ohh you have no money for analysts? Go back to TimyHo's.

I got a buddy working at RBC, he's part of their VASTTTTTT research team whose sole job is to seek out ways to save the company money. Hundres of people that work 10 hours a day to save costs..... and make it impossible for anyone to compete them.

Brades,

these are tax rates are AFTER income, which is AFTER they pay out all the wages and invest and re-invest and re-re-invest and re-classify all their other funds.

don't look at income tax. Look at what they pay in taxes vs what they generate as RAW REVENUE, mind will be blown.

in this regard tax rates should be clost to 100% for corporations, because it's just money that they have LEFT OVER after spending on EVERYTHING they could POSSIBLY spend on.

imagine if people were only taxed on income after they subracted their living expenses...

you're leeching off the efforts of your brother and his partner.. far as I know

and fine, you're an entrepreneur, you've found a rather niche business model and are pursuing it to it's full potential. But tell me this, do they teach kids in school how to appropriate used construction cranes from countries they can't find on the map and then sell them to domestic markets, logistics and all.

You didn't WORK for this line of work. You didn't study for it. You certainly had no idea you'd be doing it when you were a teenager.

but regardless, i'm not trying to take away from your accomplishments. But your case only supports my point. Not everyone is made out to be an entrepreneur.

If everyone went off to start their own business, there wouldn't be people to actually do the work. And please remember that someone had to have built those cranes. Some one had to have used them. Someone had to take them off the trucks. Someone has to operate the boats on which you're transporting them to Canada. THe port workers, the truck drivers, all those people. Without them you wouldn't have your business, yet you have no problems shitting on them for choosing (or being forced into) their life style.

Not really leeching from my brother... he introduced me to his original business partner and I decided to start a company in North America. I work my ass off and deal with a lot of AIDS that causes stress, but in the end I enjoy it. My brother is not involved in this anymore as he is a doctor and just opened his own practice in Miami.

No they don't teach you any of that in school. Most of the shit they teach in school is a waste of time, imo.

Not sure what you are talking about in last paragraph... I don't shit on those workers. I do shit on people that complain about how they have it so tough and act like the world owes them. They aren't the ones taking the risks... they don't have to deal with the bullshit I do... why should they be making more money than me?

please define "working their assess off"

they either invented something revolutionary or they tapped into a market that simply didn’t exist at the time.

Both things are becoming EXTREAMLY difficult in the modern age because of:

1. Patent laws: try to invent something that hasn’t been invented. Even if you think of something that’s not out on the market doesn’t mean the rights to the production of something similar aren’t stored in some vault. Try to build something anyway and get a nice C&D letter in the mail
2. Economies of scale. Laws, those in the US in particular, have been rectified and enacted that fuck over small businesses. It is becoming increasingly difficult to enter any worth-while industry and even HOPE of competing. Most fail. Those that survive or make it through aren’t gold mines by any means.

So while your folks may have worked hard, I can guarantee you that should they put in the same effort TODAY as they did back then, they’d most likely fail.

Which IS THE ARGUMENT.

Hard work is no longer enough.

Working hard will not provide you with a nest egg

Working hard will provide you with a barely average lifestyle, and that’s with TWO people working. And if you don’t own property, you won’t until you reach retirement age.

Being a shitty worker is no longer enough to even provide a shitty lifestyle. Shitty workers now must hold 2 or 3 shitty jobs to BARELY SURVIVE. Far as I’m concerned that’s slave labour.

The only thing that will generate vast amount of capital in today’s economy is vast amounts of capital. Hard Work is only good to keep you afloat.

The only way to break through is to start your own business. But aside from the two VERY STRONG deterrents I mentioned earlier, the other is the simple fact that not everyone is an entrepreneur

This is a social fact that EVERYONE who calls us “commies” chooses to BLINDLY ignore. Not everyone wants to be a boss. Not everyone wants to deal with other people. Just like not everyone is cut out to be a pilot or a scientist.

Does that mean that these people don’t deserve a chance at leaving a single-income life where they can support a normal mortgage and put a child or two through college?

This used to be NORMAL, today this is LUXURY.

Before people could pick a profession and work for someone else. They never made millions but they made enough to live a happy life.

So quit talking about what people USED TO DO, because the reality of today’s world is radically different.

All argument aside, if your family is in the top 2%, can you please donate a few grand to TD and keep us afloat for the next 5 years? Thanks.

"Working their asses off"

My dad works 8:30-5:30 as a divisional manager for a company and he is in charge of purchasing all the materials (billions) that the company will need to keep making their products and just because he gets off at 5:30 and comes home doesn't mean hes done. His job doesn't stop because he deals with India (what a giant shit hole India is, he's got some good stories there. One family he took a picture with because they never saw a white man before and I just had to mention the moped with a family of 6 on it and there was a little baby on it as well), China, Taiwan, Germany, Mexico, Australia, and like 10 states here in the U.S. He's on the phone more than anyone I know. He travels for weeks at a time. He has had to fire quite a few people in the last week just to try and boost the stock prices especially because of the way the economy is right now in his industry. All he has is 2 years of college, no degrees and all experience and results of his past and current job.

It's not that my dad has to work really hard, it's a lot of work don't get me wrong but he's just really fucking good at his job. He's a car salesman's worst nightmare or any salesman in general. My mom and I have literally walked out of stores because of how embarrassed we get when my dad talks/negotiates when buying furniture or anything over a couple grand, you just have to experience it for yourself. He makes the majority of the money in our house.

I also had to add this story because he actually just got back from India a few days ago and told us this one. Him and his boss and a few other VP's go out to dinner in India because their hotel had given them a driver for 4 hours. As they were leaving the restaurant this guy comes running up to the car and says you have to pay 10 rupees ($0.16) to park there at the restaurant and the driver didn't have that money and he was being such a dick to their driver so my dad offered to pay it. So he handed him 20 rupees and the guy starts walking off and my dad raises his voice so he could hear him, "hey I want change" and the guy gets even more pissed that he's gotta give him the rest of the money ($0.16) and my dads Boss and other VP's were like god damn "insert name here" I'm glad your our purchaser (he's gotta keep prices down and save a certain % each year). So yeah that pretty much sums up how my dad is, and he was like it's not the money it's the principle.

My mom is as high as she can go in her area as an IT analyst for the state, last amount of money I knew she made was over 100k. She works with idiots and complains about it all the time. She hates unions because she has to pick up everyone's slack.

The problem is most people are content with just living and don't possess the drive in a dog eat dog world.

So if what you just said was actually how it was then Blackberry would be bankrupt right now. However because they had reserve cash they still have one last shot. Companies aren't like government where they can print their own fucking money. Get out of here.
